Sonreir

Sonreir

If I were Van Gogh
I would not have enough talent
To paint your smile

The way it lights your eyes
Feeds my hunger for you

When we part
My mind clings to it
As it slowly fades
Until I am once again
Within a fingertips length
Of touching you

Your smile soothes
The raging storm within me

It is my sunshine
Energizing my soul
Bringing to life my bones
And making my days a bit more worth

Their struggles

Tabitha (How?)

Tabitha How?

A few hours later I lay in my bed watching her putting her clothes back on. I was lost in her curves. Then suddenly a thought creeped back into my head. How the hell had she got inside my apartment? I stared at her wondering to myself. I must have an inquisitive look on my face because as she slipped into her bra she looked back at me and smiled. For good measure, almost as if she knew the question that had crossed my mind when I first saw her on my bed earlier, she told me as she was leaving, walking down the hall. “The front desk guy is new I guess, because he thought I was your soon to be official ex-wife. He willingly gave me a copy of the key I was supposedly entitled to. I mean she is still on the lease and all that. It’s amazing what guys will do for a girl who smiles at them and pretends to care. I hope you don’t change your locks because now that I have a key the fun has just begun.” When I heard the front door close a huge breath escaped me. It was as if I had been holding it in the entire time she was there. Once again, I was so fucking hard and slightly confused. This woman who had come into my life like a banshee riding a tornado was definitely making things interesting.

Painting Memories

Painting Memories

It was if the brilliant blue sky
Was painted across the world
Just for us today

Her smile lit her eyes
Just as bright as the sun in the sky
And I swallowed every moment greedily
Knowing I would look back on it
With my pen and paper
And spill her beauty upon the page
You now read

The insects thrummed irregular symphony beats
While we lay content
Allowing our troubles to fade

As the wind shifted the branches
Above our heads
Kaleidoscoping our lay down view
Between golden yellow beams of light
And a green confetti of pecan tree leaves
We wished the moment
Was ours to have forever

Maybe Time is fleeting
And can never be saved
But my best chance at giving her
The forever she craves
Is now complete
With this last word.

Salted

Salted

As the early morning rain
Pitter patters outside
Our grey dawn windows
She and I lay
Intertwined
Like a perfect salted pretzel
Covered by soft cotton white tissue sheets

I am
Content
In this state of drowsy bliss

As she slumbers
Pressed naked against me
I think to myself
How I should not be here
How work began
Over a half hour ago
And then I smile
For the quiet is broken by her
She simply whispers
into the silence
As if she could read my mind
This is what sick days are for

Tonight

Tonight

She bit her lip
Just a touch angry
She hated when he was right
Standing in the hallway
Her blouse in hand
Attempting her pretend serious face
He was on time
And she was
As he said all women were
Late yet again
He smiled
She looked so darn sexy
But for now he would play stern
Just for a few seconds more
He liked having the upper hand every now and then
When she was finally ready
She gave in
Defeat in her eyes
On yet another time sensitive moment
But that disappeared
Replaced by want
The moment he pressed into her body
As he kissed her hello
Maybe shed get him next time
